PURSUING SPEED THROUGH INNOVATION
SpeedDream Design Team
The SpeedDream design concept is the brainchild of the innovative designer Vlad Murnikov. Born in Russia, Vlad burst onto the international sailing scene with his revolutionary FAZISI project to participate in the 1989-90 Whitbread/Volvo Ocean Race. FAZISI was a superlight 83-foot maxi-yacht that proved to be very fast in true ocean conditions and achieved the second longest-day run of the entire fleet of 23 world’s top racing boats.
In the US Vlad worked as a consultant for Ted Hood Design where he participated in a variety of designs projects for custom luxury yacht projects, both sail and power. At the same time he was also building his own design business.
Vlad Murnikov leads SpeedDream Design Team that includes top sailboat designers and engineers, among them naval architects Rodger Martin, Ross Weene and Merfyn Owen, structural engineers of Swiss composite manufacturer Gurit, Steve Koopman of SDK Composites and Computative Fluid Dynamics specialist Tyler Doyle.
SpeedDream Design team currently works on a record setting project to build the world’s fastest monohull to challenge the Jules Verne Trophy and on a series of custom and semi custom luxury yacht designs based on SpeedDream concept.
